Richard is an experienced transportation engineer, with 19 years experience in traffic and transport projects with formal training in the fields of Road Safety and Transport Engineering. He is an experienced Road Safety Audit Team Leader and has audited major Motorway and Trunk Road projects in Scotland and abroad.

He has carried out designs of Highway Improvement and Road Safety Schemes and undertaken Transport Assessments and numerous Road Safety Audits. Richard’s experience, together with his formal RoSPA Road Safety Engineering training and Continuous Professional Development allows him to undertake the role of Audit Team Leader as specified in Road Safety Audits GG119 (UK) and is approved by TII to audit at Team Leader (RP183).

Richard is the holder of a Certificate of Competency in Road Safety Audit complying with the requirements set out in GG119. This includes verification of competence in accident investigation and prevention as the core skill required to undertake road safety audit. He has worked with design teams and construction companies to deliver effective solutions on the most demanding of projects.

Richard is currently Vice Chair of SoRSA (Society of Road Safety Auditors).

Richard has experience as a user of all modes of transport as a former HGV driver, motorcyclist, cyclist, pedestrian and car user.
